May 20-23  Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance, Amelia Island, Florida

Now in its third decade, the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is among the top

automotive events in the world.  "The Amelia" draws more than 300 rare vehicles from collections around the world to The Golf Club of Amelia Island, The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for a celebration of the automobile like no other. On Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22. Alabama, NW Florida and SW Florida Sections have arranged an informal dinner for MBCA members and guests at the Jacksonville Airport Doubletree.

May 28-31  Sandhills Motoring Festival – (Presented by Triangle Section/SMF)


The Sandhills Motoring Festival will take place Memorial Day Weekend, 2021 from Friday, May 28th through Sunday, May 30th. All of the events are sold out, but you can still attend the Sunday Car Show and Concours taking place in the historic Village of Pinehurst from 9am until 3pm. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Sandhills Community College Foundation. It is definitely an event to attend!

June 11-13 Weekend in Western North Carolina  (Coordinated by Frank Towson – Ambassador for Asheville Area)


Our members can arrive and check in at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Resort in Asheville Friday afternoon. After you have had a good night’s rest, we will meet at 8:30 am in the lobby and leave by 9:00 am to begin our scenic drive to Highlands, NC where we will take in the Highlands Motoring Festival and town of Highlands.


While in Highlands, you can see all of the 100 or so classic and exotic cars on display in the show. You may also wish to explore the wonderful boutiques and specialty stores in Highlands. Another attraction not to be missed is the FreeWheeling exhibit at the Bascom Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands. This exhibit will feature automotive artwork from many famous artists, in addition to three cars of significance – one of which is Clark Gable’s Jaguar XK120!


After returning to Asheville, we will then meet at 7:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza for a plated dinner, served in their outdoor, covered veranda. The meal will consist of salad, your choice of two entrees, and choice of dessert, including fresh rolls and coffee or tea.  A cash bar will be available.  The dinner will cost $57.50 per person.

August 7     NASCAR Hall of Fame Tour and Simulator Ride and gathering at Charlotte Beer Garden (Coordinated by Jane Martinez and David Thorne)

The NASCAR Hall of Fame is filled with classic and present-day cars as well as interactive experiences, realistic racing simulators, highlights of your favorite drivers’ most electrifying moments and so much more. The history and passion of NASCAR comes alive through ever-evolving exhibits and stories from legends who embody NASCAR's most memorable moments. Get behind the wheel of an iRacing simulator on your favorite track or see if you have what it takes to make the team in our Pit Crew Challenge.

Our event is designed for the museum aficionado and the history buff. A one hour in depth tour provides a deeper experience at the NASCAR Hall of Fame as we explore the exhibits with our private guide(s). During the tour, you will hear the stories behind the cars, drivers and artifacts immortalized within the galleries. After the tour, you and your guests are encouraged to continue exploring their favorite areas of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

We will meet at 10:00 am at the Hall of Fame. The cost for the guided tour and admittance to the Hall of Fame for the entire day will be $28.  You can add on one racing simulator ride for $5.00 or unlimited simulator rides for $9.50 when you register.  (The unlimited rides option costs $14.00 at the venue) 

                        At 1:00 we will gather at The Charlotte Beer Garden for some refreshments and lunch. 


If you still need more time to explore the Hall of Fame, you are able to re-enter the museum with your ticket from the morning if you wish.

August 14   Shelton Vineyards Mercedes Benz Car Show (Presented by Tarheel Section)


Always an enjoyable car show and event at Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, NC. The date has not been finalized, but look for more information in the near future.


Sep 10-12    Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Tour Weekend (Coordinated by John Hameline – Ambassador for Myrtle Beach Area)


Our weekend will start with a visit to Palmetto Academy for Learning Motorsports (PALM) on Friday afternoon.  It is the only motorsports high school in the United States. We will then continue our event at the Litchfield Beach & Resort with a Welcome Reception with delicious hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar in the Courtyard. 


On Saturday, we will caravan through Pawley’s Island, have lunch in historic Georgetown, ride through the Plantersville Scenic Byway where many plantations existed years ago, and end in Murrell’s Inlet the seafood capital of the southeast. We may even be able to visit a plantation or two!


On Sunday, our day starts with a ‘Pop-up Mercedes Showcase’ event in the renowned Brookgreen Gardens, a tour of the scenic gardens and brunch/lunch at the Austin Garden Restaurant.

Oct 15-17  Charleston Sunset Harbor Cruise and Cars on Kiawah (Coordinated by Michele Stine)


On Friday evening, we will go to downtown Charleston to enjoy the historical narrative provided by the Captain of the Charleston Belle on our scenic Sunset Harbor Cruise. The cost is $30.00 per person and will leave Charleston Waterfront at 5:30 pm, for a cruise from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. For those of you who do not want to drive to the harbor, a van will be available for roundtrip service from the hotel at an additional cost of $20.

On Saturday, October 16th, we will attend the 5th Annual Cars on Kiawah Car Show, at Ocean Park, Kiawah Island. Cars on Kiawah showcases the evolution of the automobile from the early 1900s through present day. Over 250 cars make up the display including everything from eye-catching Concours-level cars and sleek supercars to classic muscle cars and outrageous rat rods. If anyone would prefer otherwise, the city of Charleston awaits you for a day of sightseeing, shopping, eating, or whatever else you would like to do.

We will end our day with dinner held at the Charleston Harbor Fish House, to enjoy a sample of the wonderful Lowcountry delights, as well as an amazing view at Patriots Point.  Please register as reservations are required for our group.

Rooms have been reserved for our group at the Hampton Inn on the water at Patriots Point (255 Sessions Way, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464, 843.881.330). The cost of the room will be $139.00 per night, ($160.00 including all taxes and fees). Hotel reservations must be made by September 15th.

Nov 2-7       Mercedes Freude “Joy of Everything Mercedes” - Hilton Head Concours and MBCA National Event


                    Combining the best and most-popular activities of both StarTech & StarFest into one fabulous Gathering!

  • Wednesday, November 3 – technical and educational sessions or activities around Hilton Head Island
  • Thursday, November 4- tour the Robert Jepson car collection or visit historic Savannah
  • Friday, November 5 -driving events and rally, MBCA Concours/Cars & Cocktails, and the MBCA Banquet

Dec 3-5        Holiday Weekend and Dinner (coordinated by the Board members of the Carolinas Section)

This year we will be having our Holiday dinner at the Hampton Street Vineyards Restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina on December 4. We will also visit the Columbia Museum of Art.   Mark the date on your calendars! More information will be available soon.


Look for additional events added as the year progresses. And the future looks bright!


The Board is already starting to plan events for 2022.  It’s time to get out and get active again.  Our cars are for driving, so let’s GO and have some FUN!
