During the closing dinner of the fall board meeting of the directors of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, awards chairman Scott Suits announced that the Kansas City Section had earned the award for top section in MBCA for their achievements during calendar year 2009. Among their activities were the organization and presentation of Midwest Caravan, as well as organization of driving and social events during all 12 months of 2009, plus preparation and delivery of a solid newsletter to members, and sound organizational and fiscal management. The award for top section is based on activities during the preceding calendar year, so nominations for section of the year for were accepted during the spring of 2010, and Scott Suits and his awards committee selected the Kansas City Section during the summer, based on the evaluation of their statement of achievements for 2009, compared to submissions from other sections of MBCA.
